Every day, someone will ask me where my imagination comes from. They say, "how do you come up with so many ideas?" and "aren't you afraid of running dry?”.
And to each question, I reply with the same answer: explaining my daily routine.
Every morning, I awake to the chirping blue jays siting on my fire escape. They rise with the sun, then relay the message back to me through my window. I levitate from bed, hair in perfect condition, and draw the drapes to greet my little winged friends. Then, I carry on to do yoga, followed by a shower of 24k liquid gold, and brush my teeth with pearl dust toothpaste. Makeup is very easy since I naturally produce pigment on my skin and lids. After makeup, I step into my closet where my clothes pick themselves out for me. All this time saved while getting ready allows me ample time to imagine.
Between the time I leave the house and arrive at my local coffee shop for writing, I have already helped three people in need, was recognized by a handful of neighborhood children, taught a baby a new word, and stopped to pet someone's dog that ran over to me to say hello. I arrive to the café, one block away from home, and open my computer to spill my ideas. With my last sip of coffee, I complete this sentence as you read it. Right now. Hi.
